My son and I were certified last fall, we have not done any open water dives in the gulf yet, (he is 12) all certification dives were done at Lake Denton. He is wanting to start out slow in doing gulf dives, so I am thinking of doing a couple of beach dives. Which would be better Spanish Rocks at Bradenton or Venice beach?

will you be diving alone with your son?

Yes, unless we find someone that is willing to go with us, I just want us to start getting used to diving in the Gulf. We have a boat to go offshore to dive but I think we need to start in shallower water until we both have a few dives behind us. I have considered going on a dive charter but, with my son only being 12 he can only dive to 40',most dive charters that I have found go deeper than that. I am, however always open to suggestions from all of the experts on here.
