Given that everybody is getting antsy for a dive, I cruised the coast yesterday to see if we might be able to explore the 1st or 2d reef line. Yuck.

Deerfield is brown. Looks like the outflow from the Boca inlet is drifting south. Brown water extended past the 2d reef, nearly toward the 3d reef. Given the drainage is still flowing out, and given the number of municipalities that have sewage spills, I ain't diving it for a while longer... Also, the beach erosion was significant here. Its a short walk from the road to the water.

Boca/Highland looks cleaner but is still extrememly stirred up. Instead of brown water, the inside water is milky. That's normal for sandy (clayish) suspension after so much wind. The murky water extends to the 3d reef. If we get sugnificant north current in the next few days, the runoff from Boca inlet will brown up this area.

Delray looks like Boca, but the beach conditions are typical Delray after sustained wind. Nice drop off between the water and the beach.

Ho hum... Maybe next week...

The beach erosion north of the inlet in Boca is incredible. No more turtle monitoring required there. After all that "beach renourishment" that they (we all) spent millions on, it looks like it did before they started. I haven't tried getting out the inlet since Francis. The sands had to of made that worse, and it was pretty bad all summer.

We've never been to the springs upstate. Might give that a try while things settle out down here.

Too bad. I am going to be in Sebastian on the 25th and 26th. Donna and I are going to do a beach dive at either Pepper Park or the Blue Heron Bridge, conditions allowing. Anyone is welcome to join us.

Hopefully, the Blue Heron Bridge will be available for diving by the 25th and 26th. I went down there to check out conditions today and Phil Foster Park was closed down tight. The local constabulary were guarding the entrance, the parking lots are chained closed, trees are down all over, sailboats are crashed against the banks and dock, and the water - what I could see of it - was dirty brown.

Keep your fingers crossed and optimism up that beach and park clean-up will be underway soon!

I was out yesterday off Boynton. About a mile offshore on the inside of the third reef the viz was about 25-30' with fine suspended sediment haze and olive green color. The top 10 feet or so seemed clearer. There was a fair amount of current.
There was a good bit going on though on the botton and the diving was actually very nice.

A guy I know dove there yesterday or the day before, he said the vis was about 2'. He also mentioned the police kicking them out of the park.
