Google only comes up with a news article from 2015.
I'm pretty sure that El Graduado (sp?) posted about it in here. IIRC, he said he was attacked but managed to get away without getting hurt too badly.

I have this terrible irrational fear of bees. Snakes, sharks, eels, even spiders don't scare me, but ever since I was a child bees freak me out. One flies near me and I act lake a damn fool! I remember El Graduado's article and it was a terrifying incident.
El Grad's post: Worst of Cozumel.

Big thing to remember is that bees that are swarming, the ones on the boat, act entirely different than bees protecting their home, the ones in the graveyard. However any bees left behind by the swarm may get meaner than mean.

Are bee swarms a regular thing to deal with in Coz now or is this just a series of repeated similar incidents that I should ignore?

I'll bee mindful of bees but know my odds of crashing my car on any given day are far greater than being attacked by a swarm of bees on vaca in Coz. I don't worry or even think about the possibility I could be involved in a car crash every day... I'm just stay mindful of what is going on around me.

To bee or not to bee. That is the question. I beelieve that swarms are a recurring problem in Coz. based on the google search results for "bee swarm cozumel"

It's not going to dissuade me from going to Coz this summer. I think it's far less of a big deal than the islands' problem with bombings and whatnot. upload_2018-5-4_9-2-52.png

Oh beehive baby, beehive! Bee puns are better than b movies.
