Hi guys,

I'm just wondering if you find it harder to dive with a rear inflate BCD in a current than a jacket or BP/W? My parentals bought be a Zeagle Tech for my birthday. I like the idea of the 65 pound lift for when I go scallop diving ;), but I often dive where there is a strong current. Basically my question is, am I going to have a hard time not floating away?

I wonder if 65 lbs is a little too much for a single tank? Add a little too much weight, and the large wing might cause a bit of drag? Just guessing. Don't have any problems with mine. It is quite streamlined, I think.

I'm guessing that if they recommend it for a single tank, it must work...somehow. The bladders are interchangeable on most Zeagle models, so I might change out the 65 for the Ranger's 44 or something, depending on where I'm diving. The bladders are more expensive than most BCs though, which is a little discouraging...

I've said it before and I'll say it again. People who say a little extra padding or a larger wing creates more drag are like the folks who say you should cut your toothbrush in half when you're backpacking. Yes, I'm sure it adds a little bit of drag, but humans are about as hydrodynamic as a brick anyway.

Unless you got the Zeagle with the new, massive parachute being drug behind you option, I'm going to say you'll notice zero difference.

65lb lift is roughly twice what you'll need or want with a single tank.

Tank wrap, migration, air trapping are all good reasons not to use something that could easily lift 4 tanks with only 1.

Oooooooohhhhhh ! ! ! !

Diz iz gonna be a GOOD one !!!

Yeah, no massive parachute here...just a bladder with 65 lbs of lift. I think I'll be fine with it. Now that I think of it as one of my friends uses an OMS BP/W which is pretty big and he doesn't seem to have any problems with drag.

If your new parachute is stil NEW then have your parental units return it and order you a Mach V from Scubatoys. Yes, it will be a drag producer. The others may not can feel it but you don't need 65 pounds of lift, it will flutter in the breaze and taco. If, however, the deal is done, then you will have to make do, it will only make you better and more appreciative of the day you can purchase your own gear and pass that one on to little brother, cousin, beach bum, United Way or whatever.

Drag may be of a concern IF I'm trying to break 3.3000 in the quarter mile.

Or IF I'm trying to overcome a 3 knot head current.

It would be interesting to see how much resistance one wing generates compared to another . . . but more importantly, what that resistance would relate to with respect to the divers exertion or consumption of gas while leisurely tooling about a reef . . . ?????
