So...if they were diving dry with heavy duty undergarments that would not be enough to keep them from freezing?

So...if they were diving dry with heavy duty undergarments that would not be enough to keep them from freezing?

depends on how long they are diving, even with heavy duty undergarments, they will eventually get cold.

however, with a steady flow of warm water into a wetsuit, they can likely last a lot longer

great thanks for the insight

Thanks for the advice everyone. There are several questions in the replies that I will answer. First off, I am wearing a DUI CLX450 drysuit. I carry 34 lbs of weight which is the proper weight for me as my friends and I took out a float with additional wieghts on our last dive for the purpose of doing a weight check. I dive with a steel 80. As for why I am using the DUI W/T: I currently have 3 compressed discs in my back and one herniated disc. The W/T distributes the weight across my shoulders and hips rather than just one or the other. It really has been beneficial and I am able to dive without pain afterwards. Prior to the W/T I carried the majority of the weight in the weight pouches on my BCD. I carried the rest of the weight (6 lbs) on the back side of the BCD (they are still there while using the W/T).

I greatly appreciate everyones advice. I think I will try dividing the weight between the W/T and the BCD pouchs. The BCD did not have this problem before because of the weight holding it down. Dividing the weight may help.
