I'm a Fish!
I don't know why I haven't posted this before, but for those who have a difficult time with trim because of locating the tank on the BC, here's a way to position your tank in the same position from now on.

Once you have the tank in the correct position, take one of your hoses, doesn't matter which, pull it snuggly down the side of the tank, take a piece of duct tape and place it around the hose in the same place where the tank strap contacts the hose. Voila . . . !

That sounds good if you have no positioning strap! I have a positioning strap on the top of my BCD (Transpac II) I just slide it down till the strap won't let it go any further.

Tank positioning straps are the way to go :) If you've got a spot that you can put a loop of webbing through, do this:

Get some webbing - 1", 1/2", whatever. My dive shop does climbing gear too, so it's pretty easy to pick up a foot or two of it. Put one of those Fastex plastic buckles on it...and then hook it to your BC. When you go to put your BC on then, you can just loop the strap up over the valve and onto the tank, and then your BC hangs at the same height all the time :)

Of course....if you don't have a place to hook a strap, your idea would work good too!

Paint pen small lines on the tank where the straps hit. Same place, everytime.

Mo2,
That works IF you're using the same tank all the time. . . boat dives, rentals ???

Yeah, then it kinda doesn't works so well....Hey, that's just an excuse to buy some more toys!

my simple method...

Line up the twin straps with the twin tank bands, works every time.

Seabear70,
Works great if you have twin straps, suppose you have only 1?

Duct tape?
