I'm new here on the board. about a BC sense it is probably the most important piece of equipment you have besides your reg set-up. I would recomend to go to your LDS because you can go back there for service and warranty work and the like. my LDS sells dacor equipment so that s my only choice I have and thats fine with me. I bought a Dacor Talon AT and I really really love it! it inflates from the back so you need to put only enough air in it to stay afloat otherwize you will find that your face will want to go towards the water. I think all the people above me in this post have alot more experiance than I. and your in the right place to find the info you need on SB. Mike

Hey everyone,
I decided to go with the Sherwood Avid for a BCD and Scubapro for my reg setup. I liked the jacket-style because i felt more comfortable with it from my OW training. I went for the Scubapro Air 2 for my octo. I know a lot of people around here don't like BC regulators, but i've heard many good things about them. And I never liked having the dangling octopus.
I bought all my stuff online because the guys at my LDS are really obnoxious and pushy went it comes to buying things. Everything is ridiculously expensive too. I'll get my air fills and service from Sport Chalet.
My only problem right now is waiting for all my new stuff to arrive.

However i did talk to my LDS and the sales guy said that BP/wings were for "tough guys" and it was uncomfortable.

Your LDS is either a complete moron, or is simply lying to you.

The BP/Wing setup is extremely comfortable. It is the most functional and versitile BC available.

Can someone tell me what a decent complete BP/W gear will cost me? I really don't have a damn clue. I am still thinking about a Mares Dragonfly or a BP/W set-up but I'm not to sure yet.

The price is a big role here I guess.

but from liesurepro some basic bp/wing set ups are as follows:

stainless plate - OMS $116 or DR $102
or
Aluminum plate OMS $48

wing- OMS 35lb non bungee $185 or DR Trek win 45lb $199

harness- $29 to $71 depending on rings and releases

you will need a plate either stainless or aluminum (stay away from plastic) a wing and a harness.
you could also buy some 2" webbing and run your own harness, but then you will still need to buy a buckle and a few rings with some keepers.

so an aluminum plate, a 35lb wing, a basic harness will be around $265.
go up to a stainless plate plus a 45lb wing with the delux harness and your at $370.
these are just some quick numbers and depending on wing design and harness complexity with releases and number of rings etc the price may change quite a bit.
the prices for plates are all pretty close to the above with stainless plate in the $110 range and aluminum in the $50 range.

hope this helps

You can get a complete Halycon setup for around $500.00.

You left out the STA and cam straps.

At COVCI.com you can buy a complete Oxycheq setup, including the STA, a stainless steel bp, complete harness kit with crotch strap, bolts, and a *real* single tank wing for $460.

Oh, I forgot something.

If my source is still active, you can get a 36# Halcyon Pioneer system for $430. I emailed this source, and will repost pending.

1. Is Halchyon also active in Europe?
2. Didn't you guys forgot single tank adapters or?
3. How about the weight system, it seems that you easily can get in a face down position.

Thanks in advance...
