Which BC is a better for all around diving from technical diving on through recreational? The choice is between.... Sherwood Avid, Sherwood Outback, Sherwood Freedom, Sea Quest Pro QD + BCD, Sea Quest Balance, Genisis Recon, Zeagle Ranger.

Or if you know of a different type that is best.

Bowtie22.......Best is a very generally specific term in this situation. You run the gammit from Recreation diving through Tech diving. That variance is huge. What type of diving are you going to be doing? What type of water......cold, tropical.......anything you can get? Will you travel by air or by car for most of your diving? I have a SQ Pro QD+ and love it but I am not nor will I ever be a tech diver. Strictly recreational. If you are considering Tech diving then I agree with the others, BC's are not what you want be it back inflate or Vest. Go with the Backplate and wings. Don't waste your money.

to doubles for your diving style, I recommend that you get a BP/W.

I just swapped out a 55-lb wing to a 27-lb wing in less than three minutes...only required loosening and tightening two wing nuts. My knife, shears, backup light, lift bag remain stowed on the harness/plate and I'm ready to go.

Here's a test for considering the Zeagle Ranger...go to the General Offers forum and count how many Rangers are for sale. Then ask the simple question, "Why?"

Based on the selection that you gave, go for the Ranger. IT is very durable(1050 nylon), and you can dive double. The wing is interchangable if you require more or less lifts. Later on if you want to switch to a bp/wing, you can get a Zeagle backplate, available in Aluminium, Steel and Titanium.

I had a Ranger, love it, but is a bit big for me. So I am switching to a bp/wing. I got myself a Oxycheq 30# wing and a S&W metal steel backplate. Can't wait for it to arrive.( I am in Malaysia, a friend is bringing it over for me).

Cheers

Got a question for you Bob about the T52.

Do you own one? You tried it? How do you keep it upright on the surface and not push you forward like most wings? Fully inflated, it kept pushing me forward. Had to lie on my back and exert effort.

I loaded the front integrated weight pockets with 3 lbs each and the back trim pockets with 2lbs each. Is this what's pushing me forward? What if I use a regular weight belt?

Hope you can help.

Hory

Hi Hory,

I don't own a T52 (they are a bit expensive), but I have dived with one several times. On these occations I used a regular weightbelt, and I didnt experience problems in the surface. I never tried with the integrated system. It seems as it could be the weight system dragging you down by the head. Try it out with a normal weightbelt, and see if that works.

I has to be noted, though, that I usually spend most of my surface time lying on my back looking upwards. I love it..

Bob
