I prefer a back inflated BCD. Although it does not keep you horizontal like your question asks, it is easier to deal with on the surface.
 
PS i love your icon mdr231. i saw a whole school of clown triggers down in cozumel:balloon:
 
and it works fine for photography. I had a Zeagle back-inflate before that that worked ok for photos too...

Just a thought, I find that the bcs with intergrates weights are not as good for photography. You want the weights close to your body for very fine tune bouyancy adjustments.
