Just wondering if anyone else has this problem. :)

My husband constantly tweaks me about how my BC cummerbuns always wind up directly on top of my weight belt, reminding me that the belt is supposed to be easily released. It seems to me that as a short, kinda chubby woman, I'm pretty much stuck with this arrangement, since any BC wide enough to fit me is also a bit too long. The catch-22 is that I wind up needing an even WIDER cummerbun to fit OVER the weight belt!

So is it me? Crappy BCs? Or is this something that hundreds of us chubby chicks have to live with? Any recommendations?

Cummerbunds aren't really a good idea. They add to drag without serving a function that wouldn't be better served with nylon webbing and a buckle.

Well, same problem with a buckle, really - it still winds up directly over the weight belt.

I do agree, though; i'm not the biggest fan of cummerbuns. Still a renter at this point, though. :)

If you have a buckle insted of the cummerbun, let it be metal and the buckle for your weight belt plastic, that way you can tell which on it is you need to open to ditch the belt.

That's the exact reason I opted for a weight integrated BC when I bought my own. I'm skinny, and need the cumberbund to hold the bc in place. In most instances, there wasn't any room on my short frame to fit both the weight belt and the cumberbund. Specially designed women's BC's are supposed to be a little better, and I have noticed that the cumberbund on them rides a little higher than it does on male ones. With the weight integrated BC, I don't have to worry about any extra baggage hanging around my waist.

I didn't know there =where= specially designed women's BCs... thought they were all gender-neutral. That's definitely going to have to be the next piece of equipment I purchase!

Just about every brand (if not all) makes BC's specifically for women...Lots of people like the Seaquest Diva, I love the Dacor one I just bought, Zeagle has the Zena, Scubapro has the LadyHawk...

Went from a TUSA cumberbund to a Zeagle Zena vest style BC for women - you can get the vest, back & shoulders in different sizes (check out the Zeagle website for info) ..... as I am also a short chubby/busty person I went for medium shoulders, large vest and medium back. The vest zips up the front - so no velcro stuck to everything. Has 3 sets up straps to tighten things up as needed - shoulders waist & hips - and you can tighten more underwater if needed - something thats hard to do with a cumberbund. It's also weight integrated - so no weight belt ..... and I got the built in octo - so I got rid of a hose as well. A bit pricey, but well worth the expense for me. They're also the only BC's made in the USA. (I think.) Best bet may be to find a LDS and try some different types on ........
