Got a question for the Bauer compressor wizards. I recently noticed that my compressor wasn't holding pressure after shut off and could hear a leak near the 2nd stage. I used it for awhile after some other threads said that Bauers can do this and there is nothing terribly wrong.
Well, I wanted to track it down and started to put a socket and wrench to see if any fittings, bolts or other items were loose. The cap nut on the 2nd stage discharge valve broke off really easily and was startled by this (1st and 2nd pic).
Question 1: Should I replace the entire discharge valve assembly? It is available new (part no. 014582-080) and a little pricy but I think it would make me feel better if I did, just wondering.
Question 2: Is there any adjustment that needs to be done to fit this new assembly or does it just torque down to specs and that is that? (cap nut to threaded stud adjustment?)
Bonus question: right next to the discharge valve is another assembly, In pic 3 and pic 4, this looks like a safety valve but cannot find it for the life of me in any diagrams, parts lists or drawings. I was wondering if this is also something that I should look at with the discharge valve being the way it was? Where did it come from? Should I just leave it as is? Is there an adjustment?
I just want to be extra cautious and get this job done right.
