Several of the forums, like the Scuba Singles and the Womens View have "nag reminders" at the top of every post reminding you that you're in a forum with specific requirements for posting.

The Basic Scuba forum also has special rules for posting, but are only in evidence in tiny writing at the top of the forum:

Please note: This forum has special rules. This forum is intended to be a very friendly, "flame free zone" where divers of any skill level may ask questions about basic scuba topics without fear of being accosted. Please show respect and courtesy at all times. Remember that the inquirer is looking for answers that they can understand. This is a learning zone and consequently, any off-topic or overly harsh responses will be removed.

Sometimes I forget which forum I'm in when posting and the corresponding rules, and I'm sure others do as well, especially when posts start flying back and forth.

So the two questions I have are:

1) How difficult would it be to add a reminder to the Basic Scuba Forum like the Singles and Womens forum has.

2) What is the general feeling from others about asking for this to be implemented?

Technically, it's not really complicated.

Displaying the forum description at the top of each post will take up a lot of real estate though.

I think it is a good idea. New members are often the ones who start threads in this forum and it often gets out of hand with some of the discussion, I think, intimidating newbies from asking freely whatever questions they might have.

Yep, too much real estate...

I didnt really intend to have the whole thing up there. I just meant that the warning at the top of the forum is tiny and often ignored.

How about something like "This is the Basic Scuba Forum, Please keep posts friendly/within guidelines/etc."

Or

You're in Basic Scuba, Special forum rules apply

I would love to read more input on this. What do peeps want? I wonder if it would be BEST to have this warning in the reply box, or if that is even possible. You would simply type over the warning, or it would simply disappear on posting.

Please note: Basic Scuba Forum has special rules. This forum is intended to be a very friendly, "flame free zone"

Is this better?
I don't think you need the whole ruels part, just a reminder of where you are posting should be good enough

This would then also be applied to the "New Divers and Those Considering Diving" forum.

Please remember Basic Scuba is intended as a friendly, "flame free zone"
