On to the Safari sub Convair diving mask. "Convair", previously Consolidated Vultee, was the name of an American aircraft-manufacturing company that later expanded into rockets and spacecraft.

Spanish: "Modelo Técnico de gran visibilidad de perfecta adaptación por su doble faldilla. Alojiamento de nariz para equilibrado de presión. Cristal templado".
Rough translation: "Technical model with great visibility and fitting perfectly thanks to its double skirt. Nose coverage for pressure equalisation. Tempered glass".

So a kidney-shaped model with an ear-clearing device, a plastic rim and a double skirt for watertightness and wearing comfort.

The Safari sub Coral diving mask came with twin lenses:

Like the Covair, the Coral came with a split strap. Note the nosepiece for nostril pinching when ear-clearing. A relastively low-volume mask with a double-flanged skirt to reduce leakage and to enhance wearing comfort.

Two more Safari sub masks up for review at the weekend.

Well that is definitely a clone of something else as I have never seen their masks, but I have certainly seen that one. Bear in mind a lot of the advertising blurbs are written by marketing copywriters who just make something up which they feel sounds right, such as a "deep diving mask" when it is the size of a bucket and has twin snorkels like antlers.

Thanks for the post, Pete.

On to the Safari sub Delfin diving mask. "Delfin" is Spanish for "dolphin".

Spanish: Modelo Infantil. Popular".
Rough translation: "Children's model. Popular item".

So an oval lens without a metal surround amd with plastic buckles tp adjust a single head strap.

The above Safari sub Delfin model from the Musée Dumas collection with a black body and a split strap.

Second Safari sub diving mask is the Espradoni. The product name may derive from "pez espadon", which is Spanish for "swordfish".

First Safari sub diving mask today is the Gised, which MAY be named after "El Grupo de Investigaciones Subacuáticas y Escafandristas Deportivos de Alicante", "una asociación deportiva sin ánimo de lucro dedicada a las actividades subacuáticas en todas sus modalidades. Se fundó en 1967 y sus objetivos principales son el fomento y la práctica del deporte subacuático en la provincia de Alicante" [a non-profit sports association dedicated to underwater activities in all its modalities. It was founded in 1967 and its main objectives are the promotion and practice of underwater sports in the province of Alicante].

Spanish: "Modelo Técnico de absoluta estanqueidad por su doble faldilla. Deseñada especialmente para los profesionales. Cristal templado".
Rough translation: "Technical model with absolute watertightness due to its double skirt. Designed especially for professionals. Tempered glass".

So a twin-lens mask with a plastic rim and a split head strap retained by metal buckles with a plastic lock.

Port_of_Kavala.jpg
The second Safari sub mask today is the Kavala. Kavala (Greek: Καβάλα) is a city in northern Greece, the principal seaport of eastern Macedonia and the capital of Kavala regional unit. Kavala port above.

The Safari sub Kavala has a thick plastic rim with a black upper part and a yellow lower part, screwed together on both sides of the model. On the inside it is fitted with corrugated compensator bosses to enable nostril pinching for ear clearing.

Two further Safari diving masks midweek. In the meantime, a happy New Year to all.

Thanks for the likes, Luis.

Today we start with the Safari sub Malibu diving mask, named presumably after the city in California (beach above).
