ok i know somone posted this info a while back
but
i cant seem to find the post.
anyone have any info on this?

I think its a crane. Are you talking about the new wreck last few weeks or an older one. I may refer you to RIOceanographer whose knowledgable of wrecks in RI.

The barge in the west passage sank in December 2004. It is located right off of Ft. Getty Just west of the wreck the Coast Gaurd has placed a red marker. Last I knew there was a mooring on the wreck marked by a white float with the words "Crane Barge" written on it. The wreck is sitting on its side with the bottom at a little over 50 ft. The top of the wreck is about 20-25ft. It is in a high current area so it is a slack tide dive.

The other barge Scubasarus is talking about is off of Green Hill beach and just sank on August 12.

It is right off of Ft. Getty and is marked by a red buoy. A friend of mine who is the Harbor master in Jamestown actually put a mooring on it. We dove it last month
just to check it out. It is only about 1/4 of a mile from my mooring.

I actually met Sam after diving that because he saw our boat on the mooring and after we trailered the boat out of the water he tracked us down on land. When we saw the harbormaster coming we figured he wanted to check out the boat, and instead he started asking us about the dive! :D

Sam is a very good friend of mine. I will put this out there: I am so close to the wreck that if there are a few of you that want to dive it after work one day before I haul my boat in Late October, I wouldn't mind taking a few people out.

If it's an open invite, I would love to go!

I'm there! I was also there when Sam came over to ask about the dive. Seemed like a really nice guy.

Ok, my boat is a 28' Nauset Downeaster. While she can accomodate more, I keep it to 4 divers so there is plenty of room. It should be noted that I am not a charter operation. I just have a regular group of divers(including my wife) that I go with on weekends. I have tried to get people to go during the week after work with not much success(Kids sports and that sort of thing) so we just need to coordinate a day where there is a slack tide around 7:00 pm(I get home from work at 6:00). Next week is going to be busy for me, but the next week is open. Monday Sept 12th and Friday Sept
16th look like good tides for it. Pick a day and let me know. Also I have been trying to get out ot the Narragansett Pinnacle at night which can be done on any tide but a moon tide.

I am usually up for after work/night dives so if you don't fill up I'd do it! :D
