Hey all, I haven't heard much buzz this winter about "up north" diving with the schools of Eagle Rays ... too soon?

Seen a lot of pics & posts about them in the Marine Park, but not much about up north. Have conditions not been right for diving up there? I know Aldora is still doing their "Polar Express" & "Aldora Adventure" dives up there ... wha'zzup?

only made it to Cantarell once this year-last week to be exact. Nasty currents blowing off the wall. We saw groups of 3 or 4 rays. I know from past experience that the ray action can vary from dive to dive. Curious what other people are seeing.

I was there a week or two ago. Saw a nice sized squadron that came back over us several times. They took a while to appear but once they did, our patience was rewarded with many return fly-bys.

probably would have been better if we had used nitrox for that particular day but you never know when they will show up. And I can't recall if all the divers that day were even nitrox certified. Good thing I am really good on my air!

We dove Canterell on Monday, we saw squadrons of 7 and 8. We were in the water only a few minutes before they showed up. They circled around twice. We dove up north the week before, very strong current but did see 7 or 8. Very impressive dives for us.

We were at Cantarel twice last week. One day we saw about 30 eagle rays, a group of about 9 and a group of about 21. The second day we saw maybe 8. We also saw a fair number of them down south, particularly at Punta Sur Sur.

We did Eagle ray wall last week and the currents were nuts and we only saw one, the day before the had spotted two dozen. Luck of the draw. Yesterday we did a lionfish hunt from the end of San Juan onto the beginning of Barracuda and currents were even crazier. Down, out, in, north they went all over, it made for a cool ride but difficult to hunt.
