Finally left out of the metro mess about 2:30p. Traffic getting out of here wasn't too bad. Got to the park about 11:30 and posted on the front sign was a peice of paper that said campsite 19 was reserved for me. The furthest campsite from anything, and I'm the only one camping. Hmmmm....No wind and got the camp set up and into bed. I had the creek flowing right behind my tent and got to listen to the coyotes sing for an hour or so. A couple different groups, one sounded like he was less than 100yds away.
The wind picked up about 2am and after some minor repairs to the tent, I moved to my truck to get a little more sleep.
Got up and here are a couple views from my site.
It was only in the low 60's but blowing pretty good.
Met up with the students did the briefings and got in.
75* water. Really nice. The Mexican Tetra's are extremely friendly, but don't sit still for a camera very well. I did get a shot of an endangered Commanche Springs Pupfish.
This is the only place you will find this bugger.
The soft shells look for handouts too.
The absolute coolest thing we saw all weekend was the ducks that were on the lake were diving. Got to see this from an underwater viewpoint. Sorry, no pics. They don't perform on cue very well.
Sunday the water dropped 3* to 72. The wind switched out of the north and was HOWLING. Air temp still in the 60's.
Sat night we went down to Ft. Davis and the Observatory. Too many clouds. Still a nice trip.
A couple more shots to show the park for those who havn't been there.
This is a shelter. There are 3.
I almost forgot about my channel cat shot. Nice pose.
The end by the diving boards, where we were staged.
And the ducks with the Davis Mountains in the background.
Nice trip. Max depth is 20 feet. It is an altitude dive as it is at 3000 feet. No big deal though.
Not busy this past weekend. A couple other shops there and some fun divers. That's it.
