I was recently diving with a Dm in training. He was coming to the end of his course and had pretty much been diving daily for weeks.

Any way we surfaced after a regular dive and he was lets say quick out of the water and straight onto the Boat.

When I eventuall got onboard I found him crouching in the corner grimacing. ' I had a ball squeeze'
he muttered.

I :rofl3: but guess it must of been painfull

Have any of you suffered with this!

I've been going over in my head how it could have happened.

Let the innuendos begin----->

With my custom fit, skin-in Heatwave, OH man! One time I forgot to velcro my beaver tail, so I did it underwater at 60ft. Let's just say the next few kicks were very painful. After readjusting I thought I was ok until the ascent came.

I've since learned to drop my bottoms a bit so I have some space between the pants of my suit and my crotch. It's all about the small details that make a dive great. I think when the suit compresses and you loose that air gap between the you-know-where and there's no water, bad things can happen.

My warm water wetsuit is well sealed and doesn't let much water in. As I descend it has caused some discomfort which is easily remedied by letting a little water into the neck. Never on the way up though.

My scooter has pulled my crotch strap onto the wrong place a couple of times. Not severally painful, more annoying and a shift of position has always cured it.

If I ever came out of the water doubled over I would like to know why? DCS of the balls? :shocked2: You did say he had been diving a lot.

I have experienced ball squeeze a couple of times when my drysuit decided that it would crease at the wrong spot. I have actually held onto a submerged tree and went feet up and danced to try to readjust my suit position. I am just thankful that there was not a camera around that day.

This is one of those things that will make you get out of the water faster than a charging shark would.

Sounds like he took the concept of the "20 foot squeeze" too seriously . . . :)

I've never allowed a dry suit to get that squeezed -- in fact, as I've dived more, I let the suit run looser and looser for warmth and mobility. But I HAVE had a p-valve squeeze. That was awful.

p valve squeeze ? how's that work ?
i've had - cant get the catheter off - but cant say i've experienced
this p valve squeeze of which you speak...do tell.
do you have an un-balanced P valve ?

I borrowed a suit with an unbalanced valve, and I didn't prime. I would describe the sensation as feeling as though a very powerful vacuum cleaner was trying to suck a tender portion of my anatomy down the p-valve tube. Not pleasant.

Only in a drysuit. The first few times in my older drysuit, I sometimes had a hell of a body squeeze. Once in a while, it's in the balls. Not that much pressure, but enough to make an uncomfortable dive. I tried to turn upside-down and fill up my drysuit a little, but it only helped a little.

Yes I've had it happen- and a squeeze in this region can also cause some nasty chafing.

Both the squeeze and the chafing are to avoid:

Wear a speedo or cycling shorts, pack you reel and tackle securely.
Don't let your dry suit squeeze at all- add air.
Stay horizontal- ball squeeze usually happens when the diver gets vertical. Sport divers usually want to be horizontal.
