Balanced Diaphragm Reg Performance - Is This Typical?

I have two MR42Ts (one's DIN, one's yoke) and Abyss seconds. I now have both Abyss 2nds adjusted just right so that I can use either one with either 1st stage. There are no 2nd stage leaks or freeflows, and both breathe comfortably and quitely. So for that reason, I'd prefer not opening up the orifice assembly and be content with making minor adjustments to the cracking pressure only. So far, so good :)
 
The regulator first stage will measure the ambient pressure and adjust the intermediate pressure accordingly.
It is unlikely to be the reg...... I suggest trying another reg and see if the same thing happens.
It could be your lungs, the air is compressed more and more at depth and becomes more dense and far harder to breathe. You might be noticing this
