Chaseh:Well we've been to Jamaica and will never go back.
I'm prepared for many to disagree, as many on SB have expressed having enjoyed diving there, but it's definitely the worst I've seen in the Caribbean. The opps weren't well equipped, and the reefs were pretty tore up.
The island itself was tough to take too. We enjoyed our resort, but found it very difficult to walk outside the walls. Like I said, we've been to a dozen or so locations in the Caribbean, and enjoy the mood and culture usually, but in Jamaica it felt like a constant assault.
I've also heard from friends recently that they've enjoyed their trips their, but they were all describing enclosed high end resorts, with no expossure to the outside world.
What about some of the smaller islands? St. Kitts, Nevis, St. Barts, Saba, BVI, etc.
All have excellent diving and an atmosphere I'd much rather spend my honeymoon in.
St. Barts is in a league of its own.
JodiBB:Wow...I have such a different opinion of Jamaica...we've been 5 times and already planning our 6th...it really depends on which part of Jamaica you're going to and which city you'll be staying in...I've been to Montego Bay and won't ever stay there again. I've been to Ocho Rios twice and like it, but it's become too touristy due to all the ships that dock there. We've also been to Negril twice and love it!! Nothing bad to say about it and this is the location for time #3!!!
That would've been either Negril or Ocho Rios as they are both a little more than an hour from Mo' Bay and Sandals are both heavily represented in both cities!mrjimboalaska:Honeymooned a sandals (about an hour from the airport) in Jamaica Man!
