I have a Vyper Air that recently got shipped back to Suunto. Off and on getting wacky pressure readings (some dives fine others not).

That aside. I want to get a backup analog SPG/depth setup. Any recommendations on a good unit to use as a backup? Something not bulky, not really expensive.

I'd check out Scubatoys.....I think Diverite and Tusa both make mini-consoles like what you want...review their WWW site ot call 'em Monday and tell 'em what you're looking for and they'll hook ya up!

Cressi also makes a mini console with 2 or 3 gauges (the 3 gauge version adds a compass and some bulk). Compact, inexpensive, appears to be pretty easy to read despite its relatively small size. I'm about to order this myself.

I posted a topic just like this one and got some good input. I ended up ordering this gauge set from my LDS. From the reviews it has good ergonomics and appears to be somewhere between mini and full size gauges. Also has the option to add a compass (I got the two gauge set). I am leaning towards the Sunnto SK-7 on a retractor to button up to my BC instead of having it on the console. I should have this by next Friday afternoon. I will post my findings and if I have time (leaving for a weekend of fly fishing on the Gunpowder) I'll post some pics next to some common items so you can see how big. I was going to go complete mini form factor but decided against it after deciding that the SPG is something that I never want to misread.

Have you checked out Leisure Pro? They have all the brands that the others have spoke of above and more. SKU:CSB2GC Cressi Mini 2 Gauge Console, SKU:MRSM2 Mares Mission 2 Gauge Console, SKU: TBTSCA230 Tusa Compact Double Gauge (SCA-230) Black, also Suunto has smaller gauges. Please go to the Leisure Pro website and cut and paste these SKU's into the search window to see these products, or just type or click gauges to see all they offer.

Sincerely,
