As far as awaps comment....why would one need them....I never said anyone did need them. But they have worked well for me so far in providing a good custom fit with anything I wear and it is very minimalist, which is how I like a harness.
I didn't mean to sound short with that question. I know some folks have shoulder mobility problems that these might help. And I guess understand the advantage of quick adjustment for various levels of exposure protection. I used to adjust mine for heavy and light/no neoprene but got to where I just use multiple rigs and leave them in the looser position and make the slight adjustment with my posture. I have one rig that I use for playing in the pool ( an old plastic BP) that allows the harness to slide and I found I have to be more careful donning and doffing due to the movement. Initially, with no D-rings at all, it was a real PITA so I added a couple stoppers.
