I'm not familiar with the Halycon Cinch system, so I looked it up.

My thought is that once you get your backplate harness properly adjusted, you have little need for any kind of "quick adjust" any more, unless you are drastically changing your exposure protection. I feel that so-called "features" like this just over-complicate what should just be a continuous webbing harness. Extra buckles and cinches just mean extra crap to get snagged and caught up, either in the water, or when donning & doffing.

That was my experience with the Cinch - I bought it, installed it, didn't like it and gave it away. I find that my BP/W with a single continuous piece of webbing goes on and off easily with my dry suit or my 3 mm shorty, even with my shoulder issues. However, I do understand that for some people with more significant shoulder problems, the cinch or even a breakaway clip is a reasonable option.

Halcyon makes a little fabric piece that bolts to the diver side of the pad that I like. It's not for padding, but it's a very convenient place to stow an SMB.

Why? Can you explain?

Thanks.

It uses a thicker knotted cord that's easier to grab and is actually built to fit the larger diameter, so less chance of the seat retainer breaking or the overly melted-to- fit knot coming apart. There's a decent write up on the DSS website.

I'm also partial to the way the more raised housing makes it easy to push off when pulling the cord. I don't really pull the cord so much as I pinch the cord and press the raised OPV housing back.

Will the Halcyon Cinch system be possible to install on a Apex backplate?

As myself and other have mentioned the answer is no. An alternative may be the Agir Harpa, if it is available in your area.

DSS BP w/hogarthian harness and a DSS single tank wing = perfect setup
No single tank adapter needed.

OK, I might be slow here.. but do I understand that the Halcyon wing will not fit directly to a Apex bp, but if I use a SAT it will be fine??

Its not, yet, but I heard that the Agir 36LB Blackbird is very similar to Halcyon 30LB Wing. (Some call it a 'copy'.. Is this true?)

Let me add somethng. when you look at a wing look at where the inflator hose is located. I have had several and when ever the inflator hose is mounted to the wing in the center top it interfered with my gegs. I now get wings that attach on the left shoulder.

I wouldn't sweat the "copy" reputation. They have a good reputation. It's like back in the day when people said Lexus was a copy of Mercedes. Some design ideas may have came from it, but it was a quality car in it's own right. The Agir seems to have a good reputation. So I wouldn't sweat that choice one bit

The only thing that is standardized is the bolt holes at 11". STA's are a standard device as as such needs only the standardized 11" spacing holes. when you use a plate that does not need a STA the webbing passes through the plate and wing material. not all wings have the slot for the webbing to pass through. DSS is made to be sta-less. others can accomodate the no sta configuration. I am using an oxycheq and it workd well with my DSS no sta plate.

Thanks, no the 'copy' reputation does not bother me. As long as the build quality is good, I do not care really.
So if Agir is ok, then will look for that too as an alternative.

OP, yes the Apeks plate will work with a Halcyon wing when using a STA.

I have not seen the current model of the Blackbird. The older model is not a Halcyon copy as the construction is different. Different manufacturers have copied or were inspired by the shape of the Halcyon but I have yet to find someone that copied the constuction method.
