I'm taking a 3 week trip to most of the South American countries, and I need a backpack to carry this stuff:

12" PowerBook, AC and DC power adapters
iPod, cable
overnight bag (you know how they are about losing luggage)
jacket
camera, charger, lens shade
other stuff I may want to stick in, books, that stuff

I looked at the Crumpler Farmer's Double, and I like it. I also ordered the Oakley Icon 2.0 to try, and it will be going back, too many straps hanging down.

Any suggestions about what to get? This will be my first trip south of the equator, but certainly not my first long foreign trip.

Thanks in advance,

Leave the computer behind. If you need a cyber fix go to a cafe. They are way too much trouble. If you need to write use paper. If you're doing photography take an extra memory card. It makes your choice of backpacks much easier once you unload the computer, danglies and assorted electronics.

Well, I would if I wasn't going to be gone for 3 weeks.

28 days X ~256MB = 7gb.

But I do see your logic. A card reader for my iPod would take care of that..... they say there's lots of cybercafes down there...

Thanks for the suggestion, I just might do that.
