I just don't log dives
I have a Wisdom 2 Air integrated C. It stopped working for no apparent reason on my first dive in Fiji a year ago. Because of the failure I had to exit the water. I had no back-up pressure gauge attached to the tank, so I could not know the remaining air and therefore had to cancel the dive. I did, however, have a wrist computer by Oceanic. The problem is the Oceanic wrist computer uses a different algorithm so the numbers do not correspond. I want to get a back up for my Wisdom 2 but as far as I can tell there is no non-air integrated version of this computer available from Sherwood. Does anyone know if Sherwood have any wrist computer that runs the same algorithm and would act as the "perfect" back-up for the Wisdom 2?
Thank you

No matter what algorithm it uses, your back-up computer is perfect if you bring it on every dive. Just leave it in a pocket and don't bend either computer. On liveaboards, I bring an analog spg to backup my AI computer, as well as a backup computer.

I dive a Wisdom 2 AI w/QD and back it up with a wrist-mounted insight (both use the same algorithm). The backup is only valid if both are on you during your dives. If the Wisdom croaks I thumb the dive and hit the surface. If a battery change doesn't fix things I swap the Wisdom for an SPG and keep on diving.

Hey Vladimir,

I was trying to buy your waterproof metal container from you about 1.5 years ago. We could not reasonably affect the sale due to the cost of international shipping. We left our last conversation that we would try to coordinate the sale the next time you visited the states. Did you eventually sell that thing?

A basic Sherwood computer. More recent ones have nitrox capability.

I remember. I sold it to jkatarenchuk, here on Scubaboard, along with the PLB. He was able to pick it up in Singapore, so it made more sense.

Which Oceanic computer that you used?

Oceanic computers use the Modified Haldanean/DSAT algorithm just like Sherwood computers.

My Sherwood Wisdom 2 tracks my dive just like my Aeris Elite T3 (aka Oceanic VT3).

But let's not get carried away and start buying multiple air integrated computers or air integrated computer/regular computer/SPG.

What was wrong with the Wisdom 2? What was the failure? Why did it die?

Find the root cause and see if it's a hardware/equipment problem before you start spending money and decked out so that you look like a porcupine with a bunch of redundant gears.

Who says I don't like lookin like a porcupine?

I have no idea why the thing failed as soon as I hit the water. The battery checked out fine. I just sent the unit to the dealer for repair. I have to check the model of Oceanic wrist mount computer but it showed different times than the Sherwood.
