I wanted to invite anyone interested along for a shore dive at Summersville Lake in West Virginia. I have some really great pictures of the lake in the post "Club planned trip". We will be meeting at the winter boat ramp at 9am (or whenever you get there).

The date is Saturday, July 10th 2004. We seem to have more people that can make it on the weekends, but I cannot make any promises about the boaters. They can get the water stirred up pretty well by the afternoon, so first thing in the morning is usually the best viz.

The cove, that is just a simple swim from the winter ramp, has an underwater platform and a sunken boat. I recommend bringing two tanks (there is a dive shop that fills tanks at the lake if necessary), a folding lawn chair and lunch.

It should be tons of fun, as long as we get decent weather. Hope to see some of you there!

Also, it is quite a cool place to do safe rockclimbing (I have been told you just fall in the water, if you screw up?). I really don't know much about rock climbing. And for those of you who go Goecaching, last time I checked, there was a box or two at the lake.

I can also be e-mailed at wvdiveclub@yahoo.com

What's the water level like in first part of September guys I'm planning a vacation to Freedive Summerville lake? I did it last July 4th weekend and loved this lake for freediving and spearing. The only way I can get to the dive site at the point is by using my fiberglass seakayak loaded with my gear. The water level is critical because I was only able to find two places I could use to land my kayak and change out into my gear that July 4th weekend. I could use the large wedge shaped rock to the left of long point or what I ended up doing using the small ledge just behind the rock out cropping below point. It worked out perfectly I was able to pull the boat up on ledge put my foam rack pads under the boat to pretect the hull from the rock. I could change out easly and had one hell of a day. I want to look forward to a whole week of them!!!
any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
