I'm a Fish!
Hi All!

I have had some inquiries as to how I was doing, so I figured a quick post was in order.

As some of you know I had to go back to the states for emergency surgery. It ended up being a bit more complicated, so I ended up having 2 different ones.

Only thinking I was going to be away for 10 days, and ended up being almost a month.

Ed and I arrived back on the island on July 8th, early morning, we flew from Charlotte to Aruba, and 4 1/2 hours on a plane for me was enough, so we spent the night in Aruba and headed back to Bonaire 6:30 am on the 8th.

Good to be home! The new pool liner is finally in (they sent us the wrong size from the US, so when we got to the US we had to buy another!), Ed putting it in the day after we arrived.

I am being a good girl, and only working afternoons. I will be back to work full time the 2nd week in August. I did overdo it a bit when I returned and my body let me know it! Not as young as I used to be, so finding recovery slower.

Anyway, Bonaire has really helped in accelerating my recovery. Can't wait to get back in the water (no go per MD until mid August).

Even though I'm not in the office in the mornings I am still reachable via email (liz@goldenreefinn.com) or skype (eginocchio).

Thanks to all the well wishers, and to let you all know I'm doing well.

Liz

Great to hear your back on island and doing better, I'll drop in to see you soon.

Good to hear you are doing well. My wishes for a great recovery.

Thanks all! Bonaire is allowing me to have a speedy recovery! I am not yet up to 100% and only working afternoons.

I was however well enough to work in the chamber this afternoon. All went well. The diver was EXTREMELY LUCKY.

The diver actually experienced DCS symptoms last night, but was going home today and decided to "wait to see if they would go away". The diver got to the airport this morning and lost the use of the arms, so right to the hospital. That is all the diver needed, was to get on a plane and fly back to the states....very good chance they would have had to turn the plane around, and also that the diver may not have made it.

Oh well, time for bed, group in EARLY tomorrow morning.

Wow, great to hear that the diver is going to be okay! Hope they had dive insurance like DAN. Good reminder for all of us to make sure we have insurance, as well as not to minimize any possible DCI symptoms when we're diving. Better safe than sorry to check it out....nothing is more important than that!

Glad to know you're doing better. Was sorry we missed you when we were on Bonaire, but we enjoyed Gibi's yummy buffet anyway. :)
