I've been trying to work this out for a bit, but am fed up with using the hook on an old umbrella. :)

Have any of you ever gone on a solo dive with a back entry dry suit and not had a soul around to zip you up? Any solutions?

I use anything I can hook onto. Hold the Zipper in the start and then roll your back as you Zip.

What about a wire coat hanger? Not necessarily superior to an old umbrella but I have even used one to zip up my CLX450, it seems easier to get the zipper to lay down when pulling from that angle anyway.

I'm a pretty large guy, but I can actually zip my own DS. I think it puts stress on the zipper though, or I've been told, so I try not to do it.

I loop a rope through the zipper handle, then run the end through my truck steering wheel, pull the rope so I am flush up against the open door, shut the door with the rope shut into the top between the door and the frame, slowly and GENTLY turn my body, easily pulling the zipper closed. Takes about 15 seconds and sounds more difficult than it is. I do the reverse to unzip at the end of the dive.

Rick's the second guy I heard use that method of the car door. It must work. I used to use a wooden spoon - the kind with the big hole cut in the scoop. I cut away part of it to make a hook and used that until it broke with the zipper half-way. Now I use a front entry zipper.

I use a dog leash. Hook it in the zipper eye and pull.

Same to get out.

I open the car boot and fasten a double snap hook on the suit zip to one of the car boot support pillars and just twist around. Be as gentle as possible and keep the zip well lubricated. I find putting on a back zip suit easier than a self donning front diagonal zip suit.

Just saw a guy today that had a brass coathook screwed into his tailgate. He hooked a loop on his zipper and pulled himself closed.
