Back Beach 5.8.10 (eel)

Got together with some friends who went to Key Largo FL
with me over New Years yesterday. All in all a rainy day.
Visibility was okay though around 10 ft. Dove 2 times one
time to Front Beach, and another dive out to 30 ft due East.

On the first dive I saw a small eel like fish and luckily the seaweed
settled down enough for me to take a picture of it. See attached.
Otherwise it was pretty quiet with the exception of one good keeper size
lobster on dive 2. Had license and flag but no bag, oh well. Temps are up to
50 degrees, wetsuit was comfortable out there.. Had fun...

Thanks for the report and pics!

The rock gunnel isn't seen all the time, so nice shot!

I know some guys who will be very happy to hear of a keeper-sized lobster being seen and not caught!

Hi Salub2007! Nice to see a fellow DEEPer here on scubaboard! I agree, vis could have been better this weekend, but the water temperatures were nice! I was TAing for one of the instructors running check-out dives this weekend, toting the flag and poking around in the sand at Back Beach while the students did skill reviews. We enjoyed the thunderstorm from under water. I didn't see you back at the shop, but thank you for letting me throw my tanks in the back of your car to the dive site!

Sure,
Had great dives. Nav. was tricky, so I relied on my compass
a few times. And thanks for pointing out the rock gunnell. It was
tough to spot. Glad everyone had fun. I had a prior engagement
Sat. night so could not hang out. Got some clam chowder at Causeway diner and headed home.
