Thanks for the info guys. I quite like drift dives (as long as the tender is there to pick you up) so not a problem there - no current, no pelagics!

I'm sure the actual diving won't be an issue it is the boat related stuff that I am worried about. The fumes/noise allegations in the cabin area really worries me. My wife is not amenable to roughing it and if it is as bad as people are saying I could end up divorced as the live aboard is entirely my idea!

And this is a great :thumb: to Baani: They have the ENOS-System. If the Dhoni is not at this place, they have a big chance to find you with this system.

Yes fundive you are right. That at least indicates that they take diver safety quite seriously. The only other place that I know where the live aboards routinely provide these is the Galapogas, so I agree, it is a big plus and provides much more peace of mind.

Fundive,

Did Charlie mention to you how many hundred dollars they would charge you if you lost or even happened to use the ENOS....!

Only one guest was brave enough to take one diving.

Hi Brian,
yes, he did. ENOS is not a cheap system.
And during our dives, everybody took the ENOS system with us.

Safety is worth a lot for me. You can't pay for your life! If you are lost, you are lost.

And you can fix the ENOS easily on BCD.

In future, I will 1.000% prefer boats with this (or comparable) system for those qithout.
If I have to decide to go on Maldives on Baani or on a other ship without this, I will go on Baani.
And this after our 2 week trip with big problems.

But it would be better to have a ship with good management and ENOS.

Fundive,

Safety is paramount...but in a place like the Maldives there are boats in every quarter, excellent top side visibility and no night diving to speak of, in fact our one and only night dive was spoilt by the number of boats present. I believe it would be very difficult to get lost.

Now in remote places such as Komodo or Palau with wicked currents...ENOS might be the answer

Lots of luck Leeaf, you have visited some top class sites in your time, look forward to your report on the Baani
