Yesterday we took the day off to go for a Team Kitty (plus provisional
Kitty Susan) dive off of Phil's boat. We went to a site in the E3-ish
area. Surface conditions were sporty, but the visibility was insanely
good. We also spotted a whale in Whaler's Cove, and watched it for a
while. Allison's full report is here:

Cold Water Kitty: Whale Watching on the Way to G3

Rob: I assume this is the Sammett inflatable. I have been thinking of doing this as well on a weekday sometime. How was it? And where is E3? Is it in Bluefish cove?

Just looked at the pictures. Great visibility - they are really nice

Awesome! What kind of whale, Humpback? Great pictures.

E3 is west of bluefish cove. You can check it out on this site: MoCal DIR - Dive Sites

It was a grey whale. Was one of the coolest things to see a 25 foot whale in 15 feet of water.

It should be pointed out that E3 is a technical diver site.

E3 is a tech dive, but G3 (the pinnacle we were actually on), goes from 60' to 130-150ish (depending on which side you are on). So it could be done as a recreational dive. mocal-dir.com lists it as "Difficult Recreational" which I think is accurate.
