WOW... I am truly surprised at how many dives people are averaging. I consider 100 dives a year A LOT. I am assuming most of the people diving 100+ per year must either DM or teach. In my dive club, I probably am the most active diver and I've yet to reach 100 in one year. Even diving every other weekend (normal 2 tank) would only put you half way to 100. And I have a hard enough time finding people to dive once a a MONTH.

Kudo's to you all that make it! I'm on pace to MAYBE get to 100 this year, but it will have to depend on the hurricane season.

I agree with Talon I still can't believe how many people on this board dive so often. Man I need to get my butt in gear and do some more diving.

I managed 100+ dives the first year I was certified; however, the wifey has been, well um, well, let's just say that I won't make that many this year.

Tribaltim,

In okinawa I avaraged like 145 dives a year juggling TDY's exercises and other dutys, here in Fl I only got like 75 dives in 2005, I hope to do a few more in 2006.

Well, I work part time, which helps.

I live thirty minutes from good diving, which helps.

And in the Puget Sound area, there is NEVER any lack of dive buddies. Not to mention that I'm hooked up with a couple of avid divers (NW Grateful Diver and DoubleDip among them) who dive even more than I do, and are willing to put up with me.

It definitely cuts into useful things like housework, yardwork, errand running, and getting my horses worked.

I don't know what I "average", because I haven't been diving a full year yet, but I've done over a hundred in nine months, so that's the high end of your scale.

I wonder how do you get the time and money to do that?

I only have the chance of diving about 2 weeks a year and that's about 10- 15 dives!
