Good diving to all.

I was just looking through my old logbooks. My caveat is this was from old dives.

In a shorty warm water reef diving I often saw under .3 after a few dives into a trip to bonaire etc. In caves where I'm swimming, or in cold water I see closer to .45, and it goes up from there with stress/exertion.

That is very common for all of us. There is not much easier diving than in Bonaire. On the other hand, there is diving in cold, dark, poor visibility waters with current and/or surge. My average RMV is from my last 1,825 dives and represents a very wide variety of conditions, 0.36 +/- 0.04 cu ft/min (mean +/- std dev). I know that exertion, being cold, and probably, psychological factors (fear, uncertainty, responsibility for others..,) adversely affects my gas consumption. This knowledge is very valuable for gas planning.

Contribute your average RMV to the poll once you get to diving again.

Speaking of cold, on my last dives in Jupiter we had unusually cold water (upper 60s) and on the 2nd dive of the morning when I was foolish enough to get caught in a 3mm wetsuit, my SAC was 0.62 cu ft/min. On that same dive I am usually around 0.38-0.42 cu ft/min.

Nothing blows my SAC like being cold. It has a far greater impact than exertion or stress.

Upper 60s is warm, I dive that in shorts and T shirt. I use a 3mm wetsuit from about 60 to 65.
