How does the cleanup work? I've wanted to do it in the years past but either school/work kept me. So you donate to the conservancy (awesome org by the way, I loved the work they did while I was living on island time) and get to do a cleanup dive? Do you get to keep anything valuable you find? Do they provide anything for the fee you pay?

El Dude, check the link I posted earlier; the answers to most of your questions are there, although you may have to read a bit. On the topic of valuables, I think they are fair game if the owner is not identifiable. Usually, that's what happens, but I suppose the Sheriff could have some input. I see that online registration ends 2/6.

Sounds like there are some good prizes...

I'm getting the reg. done tomorrow for myself.. solo diver needing a buddy.. from what I read there will be plenty of folks in the water though.

Anyone know what the express discount is? I may have a couple non-divers in tow.. not sure if we should just buy an express ticket for them to come over or sign them up for the $15 guest registration to get the discounted trip price. Maybe they just cancel out?

So online registration is closing Saturday, looks like I'm going solo---Did the beach at green pier last time, any thoughts on the different entry advantages? Cheers-Mike

I'll be helping out at Green Pier, so I have my own bias.

Green Pier -- easy access, good stuff dropped by the dinghy crowd.
Step Beach -- wider area under moorings, so good boat stuff. Access is down one set of steps, so it backs up at high tide.
Casino - Access can be difficult, but closest to the park if you are intent on doing another dive.

Thanks kelpmermaid. That's some good info to know. i did complete my reg yesterday, but went for step beach. It's my first time on the clean-up so any intel is good!

Anyone know the story on tanks and fill for this event? I have been casino point several times and never brought a tank with me.. but I am wondering if it isn't worth bringing a cylinder ready to go for this event even though it means humping on the express.

Thoughts?

I'll be at Step Beach with a group from Sharkys Eco Dive.

My wife and I are signed up for Green Pier this year. This will be our first underwater cleanup dive.

Does anyone know know how much the discount for Catalina Express is? I am wondering if it would not be better to use the $7.50 off per round trip coupon that I have and get the reservations in while there is still space on the boats.

What have peoples experiences been in previous years?

Does anyone know approximately how many divers are reg for this event this year?

I have not heard about registration numbers for this year yet, but there are usually about 400 or so.

Chocula, I'm not sure about the discount, but for some reason have a $5 figure in my mind. Perhaps the reservation people will know when you call. The $7.50 off coupon sounds good, though.
