I have tried switching on/off with 2 diff Sony camera's and indeed this doesn't work.

That seems to be the consensus with most people and it makes sense that it wouldn't function that way. Until I upgrade to a newer system I'll make do with my rig and do what I can when editing which is something I'm also learning as I go!

What I do with my Sony for AWB. Since the camera automatically white balances for 10 secs after power up, point it to your white slate for 10-12 secs before filming. If you don't have a slate, point it to the surface at the sun spot for 10-12 secs. It works pretty well most of the time.

Thanks Dave!

I'll give that a shot. I have had several suggestions and since I'll be in Little Cayman for a week I'll have plenty of time to try them all and see what happens. Then I need to get my lazy butt on the computer and start posting a few videos to get some feedback from all you folks.

I have a Sea and Sea 860, and was also wondering how in earth I get it to white balance, since the camera manual is in poorly translated Japanese, and is at the level of a 2nd grader, and tells you basically nothing about it. What I got from reading online is that the "custom" setting is the closest I can get on this camera. The camera just does it's thing for each picture. If anyone can confirm this, or tell me otherwise, that would be helpful. I would rather learn how to take good pictures, not learn how to make okay pictures good with photo-editing.
Thanks - Becky
