Austin is fortunate to have three well run dive shops. I have either taken classes from, or gone diving with, instructors from all three shops and have nothing bad to say about any of them. I would go with Tom’s Scuba for SSI training, or Dive World Austin for PADI training, but Scubaland Austin has good PADI instructors, too. I am mostly SSI, so I Dive and train with Tom’s. Consider where the open water portion will be done. Lake Travis viz is pretty bad, Spring Lake is better but colder.
