:depressed: Sorry realized I didn't respond to your comments on air consumption and time. I'm not sure about having a "goal" to double your time. Everyone has different lung capacity and oxygen consumption naturally. Newer divers tend to but don't always use more air until things come together for them. :blinking: Hey we all went through it and really I think as long as you and your dive buddy are happy with things or have similar air consumption it doesn't matter. Some people have shorter dives because of getting cold, using air, getting bored :rofl3: I've shortened dives for all of those reasons. No dramas. Funny thing is no one I know gets upset when someone else indicates they want to go back but no one wants to be the one "shortening the dive"!:rofl3:

It's great to meet people here and some of us have got to know each other fairly well already and you are certainly welcome/encouraged to join in the fun.:D

Here are a couple shots of Ricci in his favourite pose. Hanging out watching us do dishes.

Chia is the older of the two She steals soft drink but loves to drink your coffee and yummmm yummm I think she figures that is the name for coffee. She's not allowed much so get upset with us, sits on your shoulder and makes human swallowing sounds.

Aww they are adorable! Haha, sounds like one of them is a caffeine addict ;)

Well as for the details of the dive, I am a little unsure, But I am sorted for tanks etc... I have a selection of 3, usually filled, ready and waiting for the time, weather and buddy to align................almost like trying to align the planets :D Somtimes.............

I am keen for a double morning dive. I am asuming on Saturday 1st November?

I have managed to get one of my buddies keen for the currajong night dive, so it had better be a nice weekend :D

hubby did the curajong night dive years and years and years ago - dont forget you need to get some sleep in between diving it friday night and saturday morning early dives

im hearing rumors that someone from SouthPac has been putting in plastic stakes from the shore to the wreck ;) i might have to ask the right people to confirm this

btw, SouthPac is a independant dive club in sydney - they like deep and wreck and next monday night they will be having a very interesting speaker. this is a email i got from their President yesterday

Hi all.. Following the "healthy debate" recently, over access to the M24 Submarine and Lady Darling Wrecks -vs- access by scuba divers, here on Dive Oz, Tim Smith has been invited to attend and address the meeting of the South Pacific Divers Club on Monday the 15 September 2008 at the Bankstown Sports Club.

Tim will be showing previously unshown footage of the M24 along with footage on the Lady Darling, Bega and several other projects. Following that presentation there will be an open discussion on the role of Heritage -vs- the diver.(THIS IS NOT AN INQUISITION or A LYNCHING)but a way to hear and voice the position of both sides of the coin.

I make an open invitation to people interested in this topic, be it the M24, wrecks, diving and access to "Heritage listed wrecks." to attend our meeting and observe or participate.

Meeting starts at 8pm however we generally meet prior in the Train Station Bistro for drinks, a reasonable meal and a pre meeting chat or catch-up...!

Talking Shipwrecks: Unlocking the mysteries of NSW coastal water.
Tim Smith: State maritime Archaeologist

"At the next meeting, Tim Smith, the NSW State Maritime Archaeologist will talk about the recent series of surveys undertaken by the Heritage Branch, NSW Department of Planning, on WW2 shipwrecks of NSW. Hear the latest on the Japanese midget submarine M24 and archaeological findings, after its discovery by No Frills Divers in Nov 2006. Here about the Branch's survey of the HMAS Australia battlecruiser 50 km east of Sydney, WW2 aircraft wrecks at sea, and the merchant ship losses of William Dawes, Iron Knight and Robert J Walker. Tim will also talk about his involvement in the AE2 submarine project in Turkey, and the ongoing management of 19th Century shipwrecks in NSW like Lady Darling and Bega. This is an opportunity for the club to appreciate opportunities of getting involved in the identification and careful mapping of these unique underwater heritage sites, and to help unlock their stories."

So... Look forward to seeing a quite a few old and new faces there to discuss our concerns with Tim and to drink the odd Resches before or after the meeting. Cost of the night is free.

Regards

Got out for three dives yesterday, first was the J4 and it was awesome! We got to do a full swim through of the wreck and when we swum into the section near the stern we held on to the side and stuck our heads over the top, was like being in a giant washing machine as the surge was making tonnes of bubbles. Didn't get many great pictures as it was a bit surgy and viz was not great. Tried a video but all it shows is us being dragged around in the surge :rofl3:

Then was Rye Pier and hmm, viz was pretty shocking so again, no good pictures really! See what I mean -->:rofl3:

Then Blairegowie at night, and that was a heap of fun. We saw heaps of baby leatherjackets and squid, it seems a lot of babies are around, I heard it was due to the water now warming up, a lot of breeding has been going on. It was 13C at J4 and 14C inside the bay so I was able to dive in a skivvy rather than a thermal jumper as well now ^_^

Snoozing Smooth Stingaree

Dumpling Squid

Short Head Worm Eel - these things are creepy and swim really fast biting at the sand.

Pygmy leatherjacket. The skin texture showed up really well in the original photo but not sure if it will still look as good reduced in size!
