:blinking: Is Daniel your partner? If he is that proves he has taste in women but clearly no taste in pets.... your axolotl is very cute:rofl3: ya gotta love anything that unusual. The cake is awesome:D

:rofl3: Yea Dan is my partner. He seems to dislike anything that lives in water and hmm, probably just water in general as he hasn't learned to swim yet! :shocked2: (his mother taught swimming too!!) So my odds of getting him to try scuba diving are pretty slim at the moment ;)

:) We have a couple quaker parrots from the same area of the world. They are pretty cool too (a little spoiled I guess). How can you resist something sitting in a cage saying "Want out, want out" I was pretty pleased with their talking ability till I realized they won't shut up! :rofl3:

Well I better get busy and do some more review of the lesson plans for tomorrow. They are still working on the Occupational First Aid so I am doing another pilot presentation with it. Bit of a challenge 16 students and a new lesson plan & power point. :shakehead: I get to try to teach the students stuff while trying not to look like a dill:doh2:

Is he a pom??? .... they won't go anywhere near water

Well thanks all for the responses (to my request)....... I can appreciate the closed group option for keeping things streamlined and easy to manage. I would be sure to bring my own buddy, and happy to fit into any particular nuances of the group. (If invited)

Also I did not mean to insinuate I might just show up (to the dive site). Really I just wanted to ask what is appropriate or even if it is appropriate to join in these SB forums that are indicating some diving in Sydney is at hand?

No problems with either option (Yes or No) Just happy to be diving.

I have thought about getting out to Bare Island, just have not found the time to do an exploratory dive there yet, and I thought it might be better for my development to get a bit of local knowledge if possible. Thanks for the link to Michael’s site; but fortunately for me I was able to locate them earlier in my adventure  They are almost like a bible for someone trying to learn about dive sites in Sydney.

As for experience, I am gaining it slowly……… I am trying to work on my air consumption now. I am getting about an hour out of my 12L Steel tank with depths down to 12-15m. Any deeper than that and I am down to about 45m. Apparently my goal is to double that …. any hints would be great.

fyi, FROGDIVE YEARLY TREASURE HUNT THIS SUNDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER!!

It is on again, the annual Frog Dive Treasure hunt at Balmoral beach on Sunday the 14th September. The first prize this year is a 7 day Mike Ball Coral sea trip onboard the Spoilsport in October 2009, value at over $3500.00. We will have many other prizes donated by companies such as Oceanic, Neptune, Dive Rite, Cressi Sub, Scubapro, TDI/SDI, PADI, Fishermans Wharf, Deep 6 Diving Jervis BAY, Allways Travel [our travel agent for over 15 years], and many more. It is easy for us to spread the prizes over a large area and reduce their value, but we have found that most Froggies prefer fewer prizes but bigger value. So we will still have a few stocking fillers such as backpacks, shirts and caps, but the major prizes will be certainly worthwhile winning. The cost to enter on the day is $30 and $20 for team members. Team members must show their current team tag on the day. If you have been before you know that it is good fun, and if you want to attend this year please email luke@frogdive.com.au to book as many people as you wish. The dive itself is nothing to rave about, and buddies will be assigned. The cost for the day will include a decent BBQ, salads, drinks and desert. We may need a second BBQ, if anyone is able to bring it along.

i dont know if we are going yet... hubby has 120 discover scubas to do this month and feeling a bit over it i think ;)

:DHey I am glad to hear from you:blinking: I was afraid I had put you off or something and I sure didn't mean to:shakehead: I thought you asked some excellent questions and I just wanted to give good answers. :) Sometimes it is hard to express things here

:cool2: You hit it on the head when you said local knowledge is best. Websites and the like are handy but you can't bring them with you;) Even after diving the site a while you learn stuff from others. We don't tend to enter at the boat ramp because it tends to be very slippery there. Some schools use it a fair bit tho.:shakehead: We had done heaps of dives there and not known about the old gun shells discarded from the Fort. It's probably my favourite site in Sydney quite number of different dives you can do depending on conditions. I don't think we've set a time yet but we normally try to get there early before all the dive schools arrive. I guess we better start talking about that hmm? What time do you normally dive? Sydney Dive Achademy isn't far away for fills and they are excellent to deal with. Is anyone thinking of doing a double dive? :coffee: We normally don't do double dives there but with Sas coming so far and gijo wanting to learn the sites maybe we should consider it?
