Coffs Harbour...so close but yet so far..............

hubby is off to Coffs for the Oceanic conference.. he gets to Kempsey (90mins away from Coffs) and is told its flooded out and he has to go around via the new england highway and Armadale (heck, i had to google armadale as Kempsey is as country as ive ever been)... which is gunna take about SIX HOURS!

ugghhhhh - poor man :depressed:

But he gets to see the lovely countryside and he is getting to meet up with Gudge and do some dives... hmmm... sure hope conditions don't stuff up the diving:depressed:

I don't know what these guys are on about... Wetsuits are meant to be WET that is why you call them WETSUITS.... dry wetsuit? isn't that a contradiction in terms????:shakehead:

Honestly I have only had two dives I didn't think it was worth cleaning my gear for.... One at Long Bay were we saw more golf balls than fish... haven't been back there since:shakehead: Sorry Phil the second one was with you... that one at Bare Island where the viz was that bad and the surge and swirling kelp made me feel so sick!.... mind you the Blue ring octopus was kewl even if I felt that awful I didn't even get pictures!

I reckon if you get in ... get wet.. see something, get out and you are well enough to clean your gear it was a good dive:rofl3: see... I don't really mind cleaning gear... that much....:)

Burna sorry to hear about your ear... but take it from me... after a perforated ear due to diving when I shouldn't have... it isn't worth it... you miss more dives if you stuff up your ear! Patience.. the ocean will wait...

hubby just rang....

Oceanic conference is gonig well but SWR is not diving this weekend :depressed:
...

oh ... bummer ... hope AW and Gudge can get some dives in

Mullaway canned as well he says....

Aengus is still heading to Nelson Bay for some diving Frid, Sat & Sun... hubby doesnt know if he can make Friday though

he hopes to go out diving tomorrow...

I think even if the seas were ok the viz would be crap with the runoff from the rivers

yep.... exactly what we both said.... viz is gunna be mud (and that would deserve a "is it worthy" question)

:rofl3::rofl3::rofl3: ... and I think it would be a big NO

I take it you dont have a lot of work to do AW ... been on SB a bit lately :)

I have heaps to do but cant sit for too long so keep jiggling around my office due to dodgy hip

i have a $5mil journal to process and its gunna take about 3hrs of sitting here to do

I got in a dive last night, one hour only so a short one, at Williamstown. It was my shallowest dive ever! With a max depth of 3m and an average depth of 2m, should've brought my snorkel :rofl3: It was not the best dive, bit of surge (viz was ok at 6m though) and it was hard to stay down when I was in 2m of water as I was in my drysuit. I think I'll add an extra kg if I do that site again! I saw tonnes of seastars and that is about it... My buddy was my instructor from my new course (I asked for tips but he said it was a bit dark :P) and Michael and Paul were there as well. Paul had not dived since 25 April :shocked2: so I asked him if he wanted some tips ;) It was Michael's first dive in his new drysuit and I think he was very happy he purchased it as he was not cold for once getting out :) I had to navigate the dive (I think he made me as I told him before that I sucked at it and maybe he wanted to see how bad I was at it :P) and well, I got about 50% lost so I have improved from 100% lost. We were heading generally in the right direction just I was 20degress out the whole trip ;)

I only have pictures of starfish and anemones :\ Nothing exciting but here they are anyway.

Tomorrow I have two or three dives planned, depending on if I can get up early to go do a dive myself before I meet Michael. The third (or second maybe) will be another night boat dive (my second ever) so I can't wait! I will probably do my 200th dive tomorrow too :balloons: as I am on 198 now.

Well I got two dives in on Saturday. The first was to Portsea Reef and it was pretty average - lots of surge and also the viz was crap, only about 3m. The night dive was great but unfortunately my buddy got sick and could not join me so I got stuck with the DM led group. They went way too fast so I just was by myself a lot of the time and did not end up getting my 200th dive photo... The DM took one for me when I was back on the boat instead :rofl3:

Tonnes of baby bullseyes I found under a ledge, they were adorable

Beaded seastar, they often get mistaken for Northern Pacific Seastars and I have seen some people removing them :shakehead:
