I would've prob'ly even said the vis was more than 8m. Next time I'll take my little spool and we'll measure.

It was a great dive, really enjoyed it. Lots to see and easy entry/exit, although a bit of a hoof out to the platform where we jumped in.

I haven't heard of many people diving Mordi pier, I'm surprised it's not more popular.

Your shots turned out really well there Sas. Did you get one of M's lead haul? He's like a lead magnet! And I think he found a penny from 1938 too.

All I found was a golf ball and the Titanic!

Yes that would be cool. I usually measure by how many pylons I can see :) The pier is six metres across I believe and I could see only a bit beyond that from one side. Guess it depends on my torch too.

Yes I saw Mike's lead haul :rofl3: He has millions of lead bits now. ;) I wouldn't feel too bad, the Titanic was an excellent find :)

Great shots Sas! NOt only good shots but such unusual subjects... mating squid and High Five Starfish.... brilliant stuff :worship:

I got in two dives today! I meant to do a third but I have been having back trouble of late (left over injury from a car accident a few years ago) so decided to take it easy this weekend.

Our first dive was at Diamond Bay, which is one of the backbeaches on the Mornington Peninsula. These are usually surf beaches but we'd estimated that the conditions were right and they were great! Viz was about 2m at the start of the dive and I thought 'uh oh' but it cleared up to 10m at the deep part of the dive, and probably averaged around 6m. This dive does not have many critters (though we did see a Rusty catshark and one crayfish!), more a dive to enjoy the landscape that's been formed through waves pounding at it for ages. There are kelp forests and weird rock formations. :)

Second dive was Rye Pier. A site I've done heaps during the day but never a night dive, which is weird as I tend to dive the piers more at night. Well the viz was just over 10m and whilst it was rough on top it was great underneath! Saw TONNES of dumpling squid, lots of octopuses, seahorses, and a huge school of whiting that glittered around us. :)

Got some pictures:

Some kelp at Diamond Bay, thought it was pretty

Crayfish under a ledge at Diamond Bay - there are heaps here as usually it is too rough to dive and catch them.

Tiny sand octopus, think it was a baby

Common stingaree that swam at me, usually they are skittish

P.S. Burna, Michael reckoned the viz was 5m at Mordialloc... so yea, I think we need to do a proper measurement next time as we all came out with different estimates :rofl3:

....and that's inside Kiama harbour (there was about 6 guys surfing there today). :shocked2:

:shakehead: where are you now Gudge??

Sas... LOVE the sand occy and the worm thing :clapping:

Sas You are getting AMAZING pictures! We went to Bare to watch the big seas the Weather Board warnings were about... didn't bother putting in our gear... so guess what?

oh my... its like a pond!

wonder what the viz was like

We spoke to three groups of divers..... one instructor (I think) with two divers said they had a lot of trouble keeping together... said viz was maybe 1 M ... I asked if it was worth cleaning the gear for... he said definitely not!

Another pair said they lost each other 3 times... that we really didn't miss out by not diving!

Final group the lady gushed about seeing 2 octopus:shocked2: so it was a great dive:eyebrow:

I'm going with the.. not worth cleaning the gear contingent!:coffee:
