Hello, just wondering what dives people have/will do this week!

I've been out for my weekly dives today and they were not bad. My buddy is away diving so was on my own this weekend. First dive was pretty terrible with nothing to see and 2m viz but I practiced my buoyancy and things like that. It was on Portsea Backbeach Wall. Finally got some smaller weights on the way home so next week I can fix up the fact I am overweighted, hopefully that will make it easier in shallow water to stay still! Only six of us on the boat and they were all in drysuits and twins (with one guy on a rebreather) so I am glad one of them was ok buddying up with me as I was on a single tank! He got bored with the bad vis and the lack of anything to see so didn't mind so much coming up after 50mins. Blew my deco time by 2mins (my computer counted part of my ascent as bottom time :() and had to do a 10min safety stop :( So I got very cold!

Second dive was a scallop drift dive and I managed to get 25 decent scallops, which I know is not a lot but they were hard to spot! And I am a n00b at finding them :D It was really fun trying to spot them in the water. Saw some little sting rays, some bigger sting rays, lots of crabs and sea cucumbers. Viz still bad at 2m, and I am still freezing as it was 12C and I didn't get a chance to warm up between dives as we ran way overtime with the first dive. On the second dive too, I met the guy who helped my step brother to go on a dive and he was very nice. My step brother is disabled after a car accident but wanted to go diving so there is a shop run by the guy I met (Adrian) called Aquability who helps disabled people dive. He remembered my step brother from last year too :)

Anyway, hope other people had better viz and warmer temperatures than me for their dives :)

Even though the swell has died down we didn't get out again this weekend, hopefully next weekend we will get a dive in ... much longer and I will need to do a refresher course ... it has been 2 months now.

Wow, 2 months, that is tough. :( Hope you get out next weekend then~~

I'm booking a wreck next weekend, *really* hope I get to go on it as it is my 8th attempt booking on a wreck as they have all been cancelled due to rough weather or shipping. Will be my 50th dive too, so would be nice to do that on a sub! :D

Not too great here in Geraldton WA at the moment. Swells have been over 4m (much of it over 5.5m) over the last 2 weekends I've been here, so haven't been able to get any diving in my home town in yet. Booked to go out on the LDS' boat on Sunday for a couple of dives, with swell forecast currently looking around 2.5m. Looks like I may not manage to get my night diver course in if this swell keeps up.

Last dive for me was a month ago, in Perth (where I spend the majority of my time during the uni semester.)

Hi Sarah, (I am a Sarah too :P), welcome to Scubaboard. Cool to have another Australian around :)

Night dives are really fun so I hope you get out to do your course, I love them as squid and octopuses and things like that come out to play. :)

i actually dont go for night dives.... despite having a very snazzy diverite can light now :D

isnt it funny how some dives rock some but others can leave it - im the same with wreck dives.. i hate how dirty they are and they need a good clean and i wish i had a huge underwater vacumn to clear off the silt :lotsalove:

Me either ... not a great fan of night dives, although quite like wrecks ... not into penetrations though.

Almity ... We made the final payment on Lady Elliot today .... Woooooooooooohoooooooo

:multi: us too!!!

heheeh - but we didnt upgrade accomodation like some ;)

as hubby and i agree, considering the bamboo bed and mosquito net we had at Moso island, the cabin/tent will be luxury :lotsalove:
