My fingers are getting sore.... I am transfering the basic info from my hardcopy dive logs to the computer:depressed: If can't be diving I can play with my dive log:eyebrow:

:shocked2: just got back into the office and read what i wrote.... im so in trouble now! :lotsalove:

message for Petunia....

i just rang Seatec about making a couple of ear/headband thingys for our boat trips.... no wind blown/bad ears for us this trip!!! he said no worries and he'll call me when they are ready for pickup :D

I find the Eastern spiny Gurnards fascinating... they look so different when the flare their fins.
(from last week's thread)

I must have missed this post while I was writing my other reply, nice photos, I especially like the Gurnard, I've only seen them in ID books and would like to run into one some day!

Here's my bit. Have done 2 days at Fish Rock Cave, just incredible conditions, 35m visibility, 21-22C water, yesterday was almost no swell, like a swimming pool and sunny skies. That strong current is always there though, that's fairly exciting when you peek over the ridge and get blasted. This place has been reinstated as my favourite place to dive, can't believe I waited this long to return.

I have way too many GB's of video to process right now so I just converted the best clip and grabbed some stills from it:

When you do the cave, it's important not to jam up and the shallow entrance, if there's people out there it's best to hold off and stay in the dark until they are gone, then the sharks won't get skittish. I was lucky again to have a good buddy, we stayed at the back of the queue, took our time, and by the time we got to the shallow end, the group down below seemed to herd the sharks up to us, I've never been that close to them before, they seemed totally at ease. Amazing. Keep in mind I have a wide angle adapter there so he's really less than an arms length away from me. If you slow down your bubbles and keep still and a bit quiet, they don't get spooked, just beware of a tailslap if they do take off in a hurry. So good.

And despite all the sharks, there was a turtle named Hector, on the first day Simon grabbed a bit of sponge from the cave and fed him out in the entrance but on the second day Hector was well into the dark part of the cave chewing on the walls, my light isn't too good but I still managed some good video. Ah what a day! The last dive was so relaxing, and there was so much to see I felt like a little kid in a playground.

Okay, and last, I finally feel like one of the gang, because of this:

Today I'm in Coffs Harbour and diving Solitary Islands with Jetty Dive. I hate to say it but it's a bit of a bummer after fish rock. The operation is big and clean and professional, but almost clinical, you're just another number in a head count. I got there at 7:30 and we didn't get our feet wet until almost 3hrs later, and the dive was really average at (cable trail?) on south solitary under the lighthouse. The second dive was quite a lot better at Split Solitary where there's some much nicer corals and small bommies and nice features. I think I'll book in for another day at Fish Rock on my way back south!

:blinking:What great shots! Last time we were at SWRocks fish and I had the boat to ourselves for 3 days! We got to dictate what we wanted to do... it was awsome! One dive... I just found a ledge and laid there while the sharks cruised around us! Brilliant place Can't wait to get the SB group there:blinking:
We had some great diving at Coffs... I love Anenome Bay. We went into the cave the cuts into Split Solitary... it was like riding a louge... waves pushed you through till it built up pressure then flushed you backwards... very challenging dive. Not one they do often apparently. We dived with Baz at Pacific Blue Dive Centre but he isn't there anymore... shame cause he was great!

We did a night dive tonight and found ANOTHER Eastern Blue Devil. I only got one shot off cause I had turned my camera off and put it in my pocket... had to scramble to get it out, turn it one and get even one shot before it was too far away!

Played with another Octopus... this one didn't try to take my camera like the one on Sunday! I got a shot of a boxfish for Sas. We dived the other side of the island so didn't see Sas the Grouper...

CX8, thanks for posting the pics! I am getting excited for Fish Rock now. Can't wait to see a GNS in the wild. Not long to wait actually!
