I find the Eastern spiny Gurnards fascinating... they look so different when the flare their fins.
(from last week's thread)
I must have missed this post while I was writing my other reply, nice photos, I especially like the Gurnard, I've only seen them in ID books and would like to run into one some day!
Here's my bit. Have done 2 days at Fish Rock Cave, just incredible conditions, 35m visibility, 21-22C water, yesterday was almost no swell, like a swimming pool and sunny skies. That strong current is always there though, that's fairly exciting when you peek over the ridge and get blasted. This place has been reinstated as my favourite place to dive, can't believe I waited this long to return.
I have way too many GB's of video to process right now so I just converted the best clip and grabbed some stills from it:
When you do the cave, it's important not to jam up and the shallow entrance, if there's people out there it's best to hold off and stay in the dark until they are gone, then the sharks won't get skittish. I was lucky again to have a good buddy, we stayed at the back of the queue, took our time, and by the time we got to the shallow end, the group down below seemed to herd the sharks up to us, I've never been that close to them before, they seemed totally at ease. Amazing. Keep in mind I have a wide angle adapter there so he's really less than an arms length away from me. If you slow down your bubbles and keep still and a bit quiet, they don't get spooked, just beware of a tailslap if they do take off in a hurry. So good.
And despite all the sharks, there was a turtle named Hector, on the first day Simon grabbed a bit of sponge from the cave and fed him out in the entrance but on the second day Hector was well into the dark part of the cave chewing on the walls, my light isn't too good but I still managed some good video. Ah what a day! The last dive was so relaxing, and there was so much to see I felt like a little kid in a playground.
Okay, and last, I finally feel like one of the gang, because of this:
