Got a night dive in last night at a place called Half Moon Bay in Black Rock. It is where they sunk the Cerberus, but unfortunately there is a 25m exclusion zone so you cannot dive it. They have 24hr survellience to make sure no one goes near! Too bad the viz was 1m, and not 25m... and it was night :P

Four of us went down there, so me and Paul and two people I have met through my dive club. Both photographers so hopefully I will get some pictures later. It was quite a difficult dive, due to the bad viz (our torches didn't show very much ;)), and a bit of surge, and also a strap on my BC broke (grrr less than 6 months old!). But still we got to see an octopus, some weird looking jellyfish and a prawn! That might not sound exciting but I have not seen a prawn (well a live one) before :)

well when you dive as much as you do Sas you have to expect things to break :eyebrow:

Yea I guess it holds 30lb for me too so a lot of weight since I had the drysuit. It says it can hold 40 but I think it might be stressed a bit even with 30lb. I have done hmm about 60 dives in it.

Almitywife, it is a strap on one of the back trim pocket that connects the front padding of the BC to the plastic backplate at the back... if that makes sense. There is one on each side near the top and one on each side near the bottom. I have a backinflate BC so now the wing isn't as secure as it used to be so you can kind of pull the padding away from the plastic plate. Daniel says he has an idea to fix it tonight, he is the seamstress in our relationship :) Failing that, I will take it to the shop I got it from to see if it is under warranty but I am not sure something like that is, as it is wear and tear? I didn't notice it until I got out the water so didn't affect the dive.

This is my first broken thing :depressed: My buddy's inflator has broken twice now though so we don't have much luck with BCs... I hope my fins break though so I have an excuse to replace them :rofl3: Almitywife I can see why you do not like the TriExs now cos they float so badly, I want to get big heavy ones now so I can ditch my ankle weights.

big heavy fins are the jet fins but ive not dived with them yet.....

next bc for you is a bpw young lady!

oh thats right... you can test dive an bpw when we dive Shelly Nov 1st - see, havent forgotten

but i think we gonna get a twilight dive instead of a night dive as it doesnt get dark for ages now :bounce2:

Nah ... that has to be covered by warranty ... breaking in that short time .... If i were you I would take it back to the shop BEFORE trying to fix it and see what they say.

I have done nearly 500 dives in ny BC .. and it is weight integrated ... used to carry about 24lbs

i agree - the shop should fix it for you or replace it

ummmm - im down to about 8lbs now :bounce2: thats with a SS back plate and a steel tank... with a drysuit you LOVE being able to drop a few lbs because of the plate

Yes I was looking at jet fins the other day, but not in too much of a hurry as the ankle weights are ok for the time being. Haha I do want a BP/W next, so that would be great if I could try one out! Thanks :bounce: Looking into brands at the moment. My LDS wants me to buy everything with a H on it but hmm others seem just as good for less money... There is another store that sells OMS ones a lot cheaper so looking into it at the moment.

Twilight is fine by me, it is fun doing those dives as you can kind of see the shifts change over and critters come out then :)

Yes I was hoping so. My warranty tag is torn though and it says 'warranty voided if tampered with'. I got a bit worried last night when I saw that... I will have to sew the tag back together first :rofl3: The LDS is difficult with stuff like that, like they won't honour my reg warranty now as I had another shop that was not a Scubapro 'licenced repairer' look at the first stage once (he did it for free but the LDS wanted to charge me $95 to look at it, took the other shop 5mins to do the work...). It is a bit annoying cos they could have turned a blind eye to the other guy looking at it, he has been a reg servicer for many many years so wasn't like he didn't know what he was doing :(
