I have never seen them in person..must be very awe inspireing to say the least!!
 
Those two big sun spots are on the Wester limb of the sun, but should be back facing us in about 2 weeks... probably with more of the same types of outbursts (CME's). There was a record scale x-ray flare earlier today that might stir up some more activity in the auroras possibly tonight. If you want a couple good sites to keep tabs on this stuff, these are the ones I frequent....

I've been trying to keep an eye out for aurora activity... saw the great ones last Thursday, but its been cloudy and rainy here in Michigan all the rest of the time at night....
