OK, all the cool folks are at Vortoberfest V, but we are doing our best to enjoy the local stuff. Nice group of folks this weekend for our Savannah River dive Sat and Clark Hill lake dives Sunday. It was supposed to be mostly a rainout this weekend. We had partly cloudy skies Sat a.m. for our dives and sunny skies Sunday afternoon. Thank goodness the weather folks are usually wrong:D. I keep saying that I would like their job. You can be wrong much of the time and still keep your employment. Anyway, I digress.
Saturday: Savannah River drift. Dive time 98 minutes, vis 8-10', depth a whopping 21'. We dove the shipwreck, Hamburg dock remains, US 1 bridge, remains of the old Hamurg bridge and finishing up along the GA side (with a trip or two back over to the Hamburg docks. Bass, Bluegill, crappie and a freshwater eel that was convinced that it was hidden with just his head in the sand. We enjoyed crusing through the trees on the GA side.
Sunday: Dive 1 - 68 min, max depth 82'
Dive 2 : 58 min, max depth 95'
dive one was to the 3 big rocks, 40' ledge angel statue, trench 80' wall 3big rocks, missle, ski boat and plane.
dive two was 40' ledge, forest, 100' wall, trench, 80'wall, pool filters, plane.
Vis was 10' along the rocks of the dam and plane. there was a layer at 30' and 55' where vis dropped off to a few feet, but it was clear below with 10-15' vis on the walls. Good company, Great weekend of diving.

Not particularly great right now. The lake seems to be doing it's fall turn over. Vis is low5-6' on the rocks, maybe 8' on the plane (and dark). It is ok deep (below 80'). We are just a little over a foot from being at full pool - almost no beach left at East Dam. We had a period of great vis this fall, but it is changing now.
