Yeah gthat takes an 1.5 hours of diving, parking, slepping gear through the airport and getting there when they are open. And I cay=rry lots of different gear. Never was a problem before...

You don't have to go to the airport, there is a CBP office at the port about 12 minutes away from the office listed on your website.

Has anyone travelling on a non US passport had issues with this?

I’m
A) wondering if this is why I wasn’t stung for my kit.
B) potentially about to no longer give two hoots about this issue :)

I went thru Cancun in April with a pelican case. It was flagged and I had to unpack everything also. The agent and floor supervisor didn't seem to believe it was a camera and called someone else. When he arrived he just waved me thru. No big deal, it just took another 15 minutes.

Hi @CZS

Perhaps, I interacted with him for several days, as I dived with them for a couple of days before going out to Revillagigedos. He invited me to attend an industry presentation one night by an accomplished Baja ocean environmentalist, it was fascinating, and extremely well attended by staff from the other operators in Cabo San Lucas. It was a nice gesture at collegiality.

Out of interest, what trip were you on? I was on the Nautilus Explorer from the 24th until the 1st of June. Too bad your outcome was not better regarding duty, hope your dive trip was as good as mine.

Good diving, Craig

Hey Craig! I was aboard the Explorer May 6-14, so looks like we just missed each other. The diving was great, as was the crew and staff on board. I was really impressed with the level of service and safety Nautilus exhibited. With regard to David, I learned a long time ago that first impressions can often be misleading and I'm sure I just caught him on an "off" day. Too many others, like yourself, speak highly of him so I certainly won't hold it against him when I'm there for my next trip.

Are these new rules being implemented against just US citizens or everyone?

Border guards are pretty much do whatever they want. I avoid flying through US if I can so I don't have to deal with TSA. They don't have a clue about UW gear and I get flagged. It's a pain to unpack and repack all the stuff at every airport check. Everywhere else, they look but after asking what it is they just let you go.

I'm told that it is not just Americans but those telling me, didn't have any firsthand experience so we shall have to wait until more reports come in.

Cabo is the closest warm water for me. I've done Socorro 6-7 times now and I always go last minute. There are always last minute deals, someone is dying for me to go. As long as I can get a flight direct to Cabo. Westjet has a direct flight, 4 hours and I am there. Never had issues with UW camera gear.

Once I had a problem on the way out, I had a lot of rechargeable AA batteries and they didn't like it. They made me put them into the strobes and lights. Then I put the rest into my empty housing and went through.

When were you there last? This has only been happening recently.
