Man,

Just when I was nearly lured to try some Atomics regs, I looked through their regulator range and ALL of them (second stages) have titanium.

Why couldn't they keep this simple? Back to looking at something else...

Yeah, google is my friend (from the Atomic website):

Materials: State of the art metals. Monel™ parts are used internally in the first stage for its high strength; corrosion resistance and oxygen compatibility. Type 316 Stainless Steel, Palladium/Zirconium coated Brass, and Titanium are used throughout the second stage.

why would they do that? won't that hurt their tech market?

Yes, it essentially excludes the regs from being used with high oxygen mixes.

I just talked to Joe at Scuba Toys, and he said that the only titanium in the M1 is in the actuary arm and in no place where there is airflow - there are other regs built this way as well. The M1 is still rated to 80% oxygen...

Would YOU trust that?

To me, it's 100%, recreational (40% or so) or nothing.

I wouldn't consider any Atomic for stages simply because they are so expensive. Why are you looking for new regs anyway?

Deco and stage. Probably move the Dive Rites over, and get something new for backgas. I have three regs now, but the Oceanic is yoke, and its old. I'd rather buy new than convert it.

Well, you'll want to use some reg that has a track record for back gas for your type of technical diving. You might consider some of the brands that your dive buddies use - but the Dive Rites are soild, as you know, for deco/stage. I still use Mares for open water deep diving and the Scubapros for cave... boring... but...
