I recently picked up a used Atomic Z1 first stage that has the old style piston. Overall it is in good shape, but some of the chrome is missing on the stationary part of the low pressure swivel turret. The IP is rock solid at 125 IPS with no creep, but since it is used I plan to have it serviced ASAP for peace of mind.

I am thinking about sending it directly to Atomic for the annual service. Any idea what it would cost to have it upgraded to the "Jet Seat" piston, fix the "peeling chrome" problem and have it environmentally sealed during the annual service? I would only be sending the first stage in at this time.

On it's return I plan to buy a Z2 octo for this first stage (from my LDS) and put them into service on a pony bottle I have.

Also, I have 2 Atomic M1 regulators kits (set up for doubles) and a Z1 sealed first stage, Z1 second stage and SS1 octo/inflator for singles. Any idea what regular service from the factory on these would cost as well?

Atomic's factory spec on this first stage IP is 140.

They charge $125 from the factory for a complete rebuild any first/second combo (included in the price is a new faceplate if need be). I'm not sure what they would charge for the SS1.

...I had a B1 upgraded with the 'new' piston a couple of years ago...without digging up the old receipt, going from memory...the piston kit was $ 60 I think...no extra charge for labor if you install the upgraded piston during a regular annual. (also had an M1 exhaust T installed...and this weekend had a new M1 faceplate/stainless cave-ring/new 2nd stage knob installed. ) Mine's enviro sealed, but it was purchased that way, so no idea on that price....christo-lube is a little pricey though, but worth it to me. I think the IP is supposed to be 135-145.

Thanks for the information. I have decided to return the regulator to the seller for a full refund. I am looking at $100 in parts alone plus shipping and labor for the service. It's just not worth keeping.
