I'd like to thank Stephen Ash, as he kindly responded to many of my questions, and ultimately helped me choose the set up I now dive. Really great guy.

I tried to order a 7' Atomic Swivel for my B2 regulator 7 months ago. My LDS told me because it's a custom length hose it's going to cost me $320 from Atomic. Maybe the price has changed by now (or they were trying to make a quick buck), but I gotta say that the swivel is awesome! Why 40"?

$320? That's insane. Why couldn't you just get the swivel and put a $30 stock 7' hose on it? Is it a special thread that only Atomic can use? (That would be really insane)

Well, the Universal swivel cannot be separated from the hose. If you ever get the chance to pull back the hose protector behind the swivel fitting, The Ball end fitting of the swivel is press/crimped on to the hose itself. There is no threaded fitting. I guess you could get a hose extending adaptor and add 4 more feet of hose (Which is the easier way tho I wouldn't do it or advise it) to make 7 feet. I think that's how Atomic gets ya!

I did get an estimate from another shop for $212.00 The first shop I went to has a history of marking up their prices as much as 30% just because they can :shakehead

You don't need a swivel with a 7 foot hose.
The only reason why I was going for the swivel is if you take the hose off the Atomic B2 or T2 2nd stage, the inlet fitting is about twice as long as most standard 2nd stage regs. Also, the o-ring placement for the swivel the hose comes with is on the outer diameter of the fitting instead of inside the reg hose. So here was my delema; Will a standard 7' hose work properly on this 2nd stage and will the exposed threads pose a problem or does Atomic have me by the wallet? I wanted to stay as close as possible to OEM.

Lucky for me, the standard 7' hose works fine. Only thing is I've got a half inch of threads exposed on the inlet fitting. Some ask me if the hose is connected properly lol.
