Are you comparing to an on-line price?
You should be able to buy it at your LDS for 15% to 20% below MSRP.
They're great regulators too. Easy breathers especially at depth.

Ebay, $700 for an M1 with M1 Octo and Dive-Rite compact SPG. Same setup at the LDS is about $1100-1200! Keep your eyes open and ocasionally the deals will come along.

For either the B2 or M1, I wouldn't pay more the 500 or 550. Although, you may have to buy additional equipment to get that price. Atomic restricts LDS to 10% off MSRP. The way around that is they give you more off on other equipment that they have more flexibiltiy with. For example, I basically got a $200 wet suit for free.
